Mozilla Tweaks Firfox 3.0 Feature Set

When the previous update to Firfox 2.0 was launched in October, Mozilla said it would roll out a major enhancement about once a year. According to the Firfox 3 download and release plan, however, the company may also consider incremental updates — Firfox 2.5, for instance — that act as extension packs to the standard browser.

Firfox use continues to rise in Europe

Since April this year, the geeky alternative to Microsoft’s Internet Explorer gained an extra four percent of the market across the continent. According to Xiti’s research, the browser is now used by some 23.2 per cent of European PC web surfers - up from 19.4% in April. There is quite some variation within the continent, however.

The Mozilla team released its first alpha release of Firfox 3.0 today, giving Firfox download and Web application developers an early look at the next-generation browser. This release is not intended for regular users, not even those who like to play around with early versions of a product, Mozilla said.
